25 Week Baby Update

Holy moly I can’t believe I’m 25 weeks. And I’m sorry I haven’t shared an update sooner! Things have been going well so far and I’ve been trying to get as much done as possible before little Baby Berto gets here. It still feels surreal that this is actually happening and will probably continue to feel that way until she arrives. So let’s put aside all the DIY for today and talk baby 🙂

DUE DATE
January 25th

GENDER

Female.

NAME

We have a name but we aren’t sharing it with anyone. We only recently told our parents and we still actually need a middle name which has been the hardest part! We had a long list of boy names and would probably still be trying to decide on one, but we only had one girl name that we both loved and knew was going to be the winner. I’d love to use a family name for the middle name, but nothing seems to fit. Might need to do a little more digging into the family tree.

FEELING

I’ll start from the beginning since I never really shared anything too in depth early on. My first trimester wasn’t a walk in the park, but it also wasn’t near as bad as I know others have had it. I was super lucky not to have any morning sickness or really any nausea at all. I would get a bit of an upset stomach if I hadn’t eaten in a while, but that’s about it. The major symptom that knocked me on my butt was the exhaustion. I’ve never felt so ridiculously tired in my life. I would be fine all day at work, and then like clockwork, as soon as I was on my way home, it would hit me. I’d get home and literally just crash on the couch and have no desire to do a damn thing. I really don’t know how I kept blogging through that time. I definitely scaled back a bit, but I just didn’t have the energy to do anything. Luckily that only lasted for a month and a half or so.

I was also pretty moody in the beginning. I still am a little bit here and there but nothing compared to earlier. The hubs seriously needs a medal for putting up with me. He would do one little thing that would never typically bother me, but it would annoy the crap out of me and then I’d be mad at him and be a grump. And there were a few times I cried for no reason at all. Just cause. At least I can blame this all on Baby Berto 😉

The only other things I felt early on were sore boobs, bloating and constipation. So fun. Usually at night after I ate dinner I felt like I had a belly the size of bowling ball. It was uncomfy but I’d rather have that than nausea. And of course I was peeing all. the. time.

And bloody noses! What a pain. Anyone else get these? I never had a bloody nose in my life until now. They don’t last long but they’re still super annoying to deal with.

Literally the day after I started my second trimester, all these symptoms disappeared. I’ve heard this from others as well which is so crazy. It’s like your body finally gets used to what’s going on in there. It’s been pretty smooth sailing since then. I’ve recently started having some back pain, which I actually had before I was pregnant, but it’s been getting a little worse now. I started seeing a new chiropractor last week who is apparently a miracle worker so fingers crossed he can help me out.

Another new second trimester delight is the acne on my chin. Not in the middle of my chin, but literally two little clusters on either side. And it won’t go away. It’s driving me crazy. I’ve never had perfect skin, but I’ve never broken out like this before. I had been using ProActiv for a while which was working well for me, and I continued to use it in the beginning of my pregnancy but then started reading mixed reviews about the safety of it so I stopped. I switched to Cera-Ve which is much gentler, and seemed to be working fine but then all of a sudden these craters showed up and it doesn’t appear they have any intention of leaving. I tried a Tea Tree Oil regiment next but that hasn’t really been working. A friend recommended this face wash and this mask that I recently ordered so I’m going to give those a try and see what happens. I’d really appreciate it if Baby Berto stopped stealing away all my beauty, as they say baby girls do.

But the best new feeling of course is the kicking! It took a little while to figure out if she was actually kicking, or if it was just gas. I’m sure there were many times it was her but I had no idea. But then you feel it, and you just know. She’s an active little lady in there and I feel her a lot, which is an awesome feeling and reassuring that she’s alive and well. She kicks a lot at night. Clearly we’re not on the same schedule because when I’m relaxing on the couch or getting ready for bed, she’s all sorts of moving around. We’ll have to change that J

Oh and I also have a really itchy belly! I read that’s totally normal since your skin is stretching and all. Makes sense.

THE BUMP

I’m sorry I don’t have any bump pics to share with you. I haven’t really felt like being photographed lately due to the above mentioned acne. We don’t plan on getting any pregnancy photos taken either. No offense to anyone who has gotten them done but I just don’t see the point. I have seen some absolutely gorgeous ones, but then what do you do with them? Frame them and hang them in the nursery? No thanks. Obviously they would be nice for a scrapbook or something but it’s just not something we’re going to waste our money on. We’ll just take some photos ourselves. And I know there will be some photos from my shower and I’ll be sure to share some of those J

But back to the bump. I’m still feeling pretty small. My 24 week notification last week from The Bump app said the baby is the size of a cantaloupe. There’s no way that’s accurate because my belly is not that big. But it’s definitely growing. But if I’m wearing a sweatshirt or baggy sweater, it’s still kinda hard to tell I’m preggers. I feel like I was in that phase for a while where everyone thinks you just have a big gut and aren’t pregnant. I’m pretty thin to begin with so I think it’s just taking a little longer for my bump to really show.

I’ve totally been rocking the maternity clothes for a while now though. I don’t know how people still wear their regular pants “under belly”. It’s just not comfy. But maternity pants sure are. I’m lucky because I don’t need to dress up for work so I basically just rotate between some leggings and jeans. As for tops, I’ve been able to just buy larger sizes. Sweaters and leggings. That’s where it’s at.

MY DOC

The office I go to has about 10-12 doctors and they recommend you see a different one each time since you don’t know who will be available when you go into labor. Definitely wasn’t a fan of that, so I switched over to their midwife after a friend recommended her. And I’m so glad I did. She’s awesome, and such a fireball. She tells you it exactly how it is and doesn’t mess around. I feel super comfortable knowing that she’ll be delivering baby berto. I feel like everywhere I go now and people ask who my doctor is and I tell them, they’re like oh ya she delivered all my kids, isn’t she great?! Clearly a celeb around town.

My next appointment is this Thursday when I get to drink the yummy orange sugary drink and get tested for gestational diabetes. Fingers crossed that goes well and isn’t an issue.

CRAVING

In the beginning I craved chocolate milk, but that’s gone away and I really haven’t had any strong cravings for anything. I’ve been trying to eat somewhat healthy and am surprised our trips to the DQ right down the street haven’t been more frequent. But that could always change 😉

NURSERY

I know I’ve shared a couple posts about the nursery and I’ll be sharing more snippets here and there of different projects as I complete them and then of course a full reveal. You can check out our crib here and my style board here.

Whew I know that was a long post but I wanted to fill you all in on this journey. I also want to share some registry must haves I’ve come across and more updates in general.

Do you guys like all this baby stuff?! What type of posts would you be interested in reading? I know it’s a change of pace around here so I want to make sure I’m still sharing relative content that you guys are interested in J

And of course any tips, suggestions or recommendations about anything baby related, drop them in the comments. There is so much I don’t know!

Happy Monday!

I love hearing all of the Baby Berto updates! Brings back a few memories. I definitely did not get the pregnancy glow. I had the pregnancy acne, too. And I didn’t really start to show until I was about 5 months in. Good luck with your glucose test! Just chug it!

Yay Baby Berto! So glad to hear your pregnancy is going well! What an exciting time! I hear you on the maternity photos, they can be really lovely but also really over the top (as with everything I suppose). I love the idea of doing your own!

Ohh man, sooo many fun little things about pregnancy, eh? 😉 It’s a good thing we love these itty bittys!! 😉 I was totally small with Jade too, and no one believed me when I was 25 weeks. Ha! Maybe baby Berto will be small. “Easier” to push out. 😉 I wanted to have the same doc deliver my babe too, (and since my doc who delivered Jade decided to stop delivering babies), I went with a midwife through another doctor’s office too. I love that option! So fun reading about your journey! 🙂

haha I sure hope she’s small and easier to push out but something tells me that’s not going to be the case 😉 And ugh, so frustrating your doc stopped delivering, babes, what the heck! Hope things are going well for you too! xo

Loved reading this! We’re having the same issue with the middle name. We’ve dug DEEP into the family tree and we still aren’t finding anything that fits. It looks like we might go rogue and just choose another name that we love that works with her first name, which we’ve been settled on since about 20 weeks. We never did have much of a list of boy names! I guess that worked out ok, because I was starting to fear we’d never agree on one if we had to. 😉

Seriously, how can a middle name be so hard?! I’m thinking we might just have to go rogue too and pick something that works well with the first. My husband keeps reminding me that no one is ever going to use her middle name but I’m crazy and thinking like 20 years down the road when she wants to start her own blog or business and how cute her name would sound as a brand. ha. Is that bad?!

LOVED reading this little “bump-date”! There’s so much happening that I remember feeling like I couldn’t possibly forget, and then so much else happens and you totally do … you’ll love having this to look back on! SO happy to hear you’re feeling well and having so much fun getting ready for Miss Berto’s arrival!

I remember the exhaustion…..never been so tired in my life! We didn’t get a pro images taken either but at 33 weeks I had hubby take some one of me and I love them now and my daughter loves looking at them so you should get a s couple of pics just to show her when she is older. At least that is my advice. No Pressure! Enjoy every moment it is such an incredible time! xo

Oh my gosh I’m just hoping the exhaustion doesn’t come back in the third trimester but I have a feeling it might haha. And I totally agree, we’ll definitely have a few pics taken around the holidays by family/friends but just don’t think it’s worth it to spend money on a professional!
